Chlorhexidine gluconate is a cationic bisbiguanide that disrupts bacterial cell membranes, leading to cell death. It has broad-spectrum activity against Gram-positive bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus, MRSA, Streptococcus), Gram-negative bacteria (E. coli, Pseudomonas, Klebsiella), yeasts (Candida albicans), and some viruses (HIV, HSV, CMV).

Wet hands and forearms. Apply sufficient soap and scrub for 2–3 minutes, paying attention to nails and interdigital spaces. Rinse thoroughly with water. Repeat for a total of 5 minutes. Dry with sterile towel.
The night before surgery and the morning of surgery: shower using chlorhexidine soap, covering entire body from neck down. Leave lather on skin for 1–2 minutes before rinsing. Do not use regular soap or shampoo on the same day.
Use once or twice daily as regular body wash. For recurrent skin infections (e.g., folliculitis), use daily for 2 weeks, then 2–3 times weekly for maintenance. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes.
Do not use on broken skin or deep wounds without medical advice. Avoid contact with eyes – if contact occurs, rinse immediately with plenty of water. Discontinue if severe irritation, redness, or swelling occurs. Do not use in the ear canal (risk of ototoxicity). Not for internal use.
